Mike has been nominated for Texas Poet Laureate for the third time (hope third time is the charm!). Mike has been a serious public poet for over 50 years, has published 5 full books of poetry and several chapbooks. His poetry has appeared in dozens of journals and anthologies. He has presented poetry readings and workshops all over Texas for many years. Mike established permanent poetry programs in Montgomery County, Texas, and in Fort Worth. He hosted monthly poetry programs in Arlington and Fort Worth over many years. Mike’s pledge, if he is named Texas Poet Laureate, is to try to bring more poetry to the general public, to make poetry a more popular art form, and to use poetry to stimulate society both emotionally and intellectually.
