My new volume of science-fiction short stories has just been published by Inner Eye Books, and is available on Amazon and Smash Words as both a print and an ebook. This second collection continues the weirdness of Passing Strange. Some of these new stories carry on my concern with contemporary social issues (such as global warming, bullying, abortion, animal rights, gun control, etc.) by extrapolating them into the future or exploring them thru unusual perspectives. Other stories briefly ponder philosophical questions such as the nature of good and evil and the concept of justice. Some are simply for the fun of making our spines tingle a bit. I like to think that each story will be a thought provoker that you will consider the implications of after reading. You’ll find arrogant vampires, woebegone werewolves, scaly aliens, super cyber AI’s, the gremlin on the plane from the Twilight Zone, Elvis, and some sexy future humans. Check out both volumes for a double dollop of thought-provoking weirdness. They are both available at the Michael Baldwin Amazon Author page: ...

Then it was off to Beaumont for the Poetry Society of Texas Summer Conference. Dr. Marilyn Komechak and I gave our How To Find Your Poetic Mind workshop to an enthusiastic assembly of some of the best poets in Texas. We were complimented by several of the poets as having presented the best creative writing program they had ever attended. ...

I just had to post this enthusiastic review of Murder Music that I received after doing my Creativity Workshop in Alvarado. This is what every writer hopes for: By jameye jones I was captivated from the first paragraph! This book kept me on the edge of my seat! Being from that era – the time & some of locations – the action the relations of music/jazz/romance/ travel / trying to play detective of “who done it” and then finding out “WHO” was right to the “end” all the the travels that Blakely took you thru was like you were actually on that route with him! Even when I had to put the book down to do my daily work- I was wondering “what was going to happen next” I could not wait to get back to it !! I got the book on a Thursday & was finished the next Friday! I recommend it ! FIVE 5 Star GREAT READ- GREATLY WRITTEN ! Met this man in person – ! Signed copy !!! Treasured !! ...

I learned a lot about self-publishing with Murder Music and Passing Strange. I also discovered the disadvantages of traditional publishing with Scapes and Counting Backward From Infinity. So I have developed a seminar advocating Assisted Self-Publishing as the easiest and most affordable way for writers to self-publish. I’m making this one-hour seminar available for just $100 to any organization interested in the best way to become a self-published author. I also discuss marketing and writing contests. The flyer for the seminar is on the Mike’s Programs tab of this website. ...
